Pastor cum school supervisor accused of molesting two- year old pupil.
Adegboyega Adenekan, a 46-year-old
supervisor in Christland International School in
Victoria Garden City (VGC) Lagos, has been
arrested by the police for allegedly defiling a
34 months old girl, under the guise of
teaching her sex education.

Commissioner of Police Fatai Owoseni, who
paraded him yesterday, said that preliminary
investigation showed that the pastor defiled
the girl. The victim’s mother, said, “On
November 10, I took my daughter to the toilet.

And as I normally do, I warned her not to let
anybody touch her ‘wee, wee’ (private parts).
Then she said, ‘he put his wee wee in my wee
wee.’ I asked who? She said Mr. Adenekan.

She is two years old, but she can describe
everything graphically. I got the suspect’s
phone number. I called and told him three
things – ‘Do not abuse my daughter again; do
not threaten my daughter again; and for the
psychological balance of my daughter, when
you see her, wave at her.’

He said I should tell anybody if I like and that
nobody would believe me because he is a
pastor. And truly, when I got to the school on
Monday, everybody said it could not have
happened. He is a supervisor in the primary
school section; he has no reason to be in the
nursery section. A cleaner in the school told
me that my daughter and the man were close.

My doctor checked my daughter and
confirmed she had been abused. A
government hospital, Mirabel Centre, agreed
that she had been abused. She told me so
many graphic things that he had done to her.
We also subjected Adenekan to a lie detector
(polygraph) test and he failed it.

Adenekan, however, denied committing the
crime saying: "I have never been alone with
this girl. I am calling on the police and other
security agencies to do their investigation. I
know the God that I serve is going to vindicate
me. I am married for 15 years and I have my
own children.

This girl comes to school with school bus,
from what I have heard, and then goes with
her school bus. I am a supervisor in that
school. I don’t teach. So the allegation that I
teach the children sex education is so
disturbing to me."

Tochukwu Akorisa, Ndubuise Egwuatuonwu,
Ifeanyi Eze and Aboi Rufus were arrested for
breaking shops in the Alaba International
Market, Lagos State by destroying padlocks of
their target shops by pouring acid on them.

They had attacked a warehouse in the market,
stealing 427 cartons of electric bulbs valued at
N19.1m. The shop owner was said to have
reported the incident to the police, leading to
the arrest of one Tona Nwenyi, who allegedly
bought some of the goods from the suspects.

Two other persons, Tony Eme and Ejike
Chinwoba, who bought the bulbs from the
gang, have been arrested and 100 cartons out
of the 427 cartons, have, so far, been

We're adressing recession with wrong tools- CBN
According to Moses Tule, the Director of
Policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the on-
going economic recession has persisted
owing to application of wrong prescription by
non-professionals, reports Vanguardngr.

His words: “Some came in as doctors into the
macro-economic management and are giving
the tools of medical doctors to advise on how
to solve the problem of recession. .
.
Some came in as carpenters and as engineers
and they are using their tools to advise on
how to address economic recession. They
have not allowed the professionals to do their
jobs. They have not allowed the professional
to provide the direction.”

According to him, the Monetary Policy
Committee (MPC) had, since early last year,
consistently warned that the nation will slip
into recession if urgent steps are not taken
but that the warnings were not heeded.

Explaining how the nation got into recession,
Tule said: “Oil prices are down. Not only are
oil prices down, the Niger Delta Avengers have
blown up oil producing facilities and export
facilities, severally.

When they blew the Forcados , it took
government six months to fix Forcados. That
was a loading bay. And after fixing it, they
went back and blew it again. So we have oil
prices and production going down.
.
.
The implication is that foreign exchange
earnings are going down, but unfortunately,
our import expenditure is not going down. It
is still in the region of N976bn, monthly.”

He said sitting down and blaming the CBN for
the falling value of the naira was futile,
insisting: “The moment we began to prefer
imported goods to our domestically produced
goods, we laid the foundation and built the
superstructure to where we are now. .
.
This is a conscious choice. Every country
makes the choice where it wants to be. This is
what we chose for ourselves as a country.”
