Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr.
Solomon Dalung on Thursday said that
government has not been able to pay the
allowances of the Super Falcons because their
victory in Cameroon was not
expected,Vanguard reports.
.
.
Recall that the team on Saturday won the
2016 African Women Cup of Nations but had
not been paid their allowances.Speaking to
State House Correspondents after a private
meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at
the presidential Villa, Abuja, Dalong said that
there was no money readily available to pay
them. .
.
He however said that efforts were being made
to find solution to the matter. He said: “It is
unfortunate that we are celebrating victory of
the Super Falcons amidst some bitter feelings
among the players because of some
administrative lapses that were not managed
properly because if the situation was explained
to these girls, I don’t think the situation would
have gotten to this level.
They have stamped their authority and
dominance over football in the continent,
having consistently won the trophy eight
times. .
.
After the girls came back from Cameroon, we
had launched with them and they were in high
spirits, the communication gap in trying to
convey the situation to them could have been
what led to it."

Nigeria Doctor who was convicted over the death of boy in the UK Loses Appeal.
A doctor who was convicted over the death of
a six-year-old boy has lost her appeal. Dr
Hadiza Bawa-Garba was convicted, along with
agency nurse Isabel Amaro, of the
manslaughter of Jack Adcock at Nottingham
Crown Court in November last year. .
.
Jack, who had Down's syndrome and a heart
condition, died at Leicester Royal Infirmary in
February 2011, hours after being admitted with
sickness and vomiting. He was treated by
Doctor Hadiza Bawa-Garba and nurse Isabel
Amaro. Doctor didn't resuscitate him as she
had him confused with another patient
Bawa-Garba argued before three senior judges
in London that her trial was unfair because the
judge misdirected the jury.
But Sir Brian Leveson ruled : 'We have come
to clear conclusion that none of the grounds of
appeal are, in fact, arguable'. Jack's parents,
Nicky and Vic, who live in Glen Parva,
Leicestershire, were not in court to hear the
decision.
Former commercial sex worker weds in port Harcourt, shares her story
A converted commercial sex worker who was
rehabilitated just got married in Port
Harcourt.Taking her marital vow at the GRA
branch of OPM church, the bride said
.
. "I got involved in prostitution after the death
of my mother in 2012. I am an orphan, my
father died in 2007, I came from a
polygamous home and could not continue my
education after dropping out in my secondary
school. .
.
As my last option, I took the choice of
engaging in a full time prostitution to help
myself. Consequently, I was addmitted into a
demonic brothel in Diobu where certain rituals
are made through shaving of hair from all the
sensitive part of your body to be deposited
with the owner of the brothel. I could not find
any pleasure in the business as several ugly
incidences kept occurring in the evil brothel. .
.
I lamented every day in my life for God to
rescue me as I no longer felt comfortable to
continue in the act of prostitution but to avail.
At some point, members of Winners Chaple
church near water lines junction, will come to
the brothel in their buses to convey us to their
church but will later returned us to the
brothel. I kept wondering why the church
could not offer an alternative means for us to
quit the illicit trade. .
.
As I was believing God for a savour to meet
me was when Daddy OPM visited our brothel
with an uncommon style of evergelism urging
us not only to quite prostitution but to pack
out of the brothel to follow him. He promised
to give us house, set up businesses for us,
change our lives and also to sponsor the
traditional and white wedding of any of us who
truly accept Christ and repent from our evil
ways, a rare opportunity I have being looking
for. This divine visitation by the OPM
evergelism team was made two days after my
colleague "Chisom" lost her life in the act, a
situation that created so much fear in me to
quite the business.
.
.
Today, those promises were made possible in
my life. I am now wedded to a husband of my
choice, the church have graciously provided
another accommodation for us, set up
business for me and God has change my life
for better"
Save me from EFCC'S Harassments- Patience Jonathan begs National Assembly.
Former first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, on
Wednesday sought the protection of the House
of Representatives against alleged harassment
by the operatives of the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission. .
.
.
The former President’s wife laid a petition
before the House in Abuja, complaining that
her fundamental human rights were infringed
upon by the anti-graft agency. A Peoples
Democratic Party member of the House from
Delta State, Mr. Lovette Idisi, had submitted
the petition on behalf of Jonathan’s wife. .
.
.
Idisi, while conveying the complaints of Mrs.
Jonathan to the House, said under the
Nigerian constitution, mere allegations did not
amount to guilt until a proper conviction by a
competent court of law. .
.
.
He added, “This petition is in line with Section
36 where every citizen is presumed innocent
until proven guilty. Mr. Speaker, the constant
harassment of the former first lady is in a
petition emanating from her that was sent to
my office. .
.
.
“With the leave of the House, I seek your
permission to lay the petition before the
House.” .
.
.
The Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, referred the
petition to the House Committee on Public
Petitions for hearing. It is expected that the
former President’ wife will come to the
National Assembly when invited, to defend the
petition.
